Mt. Pleasant Antique & Consignment StoresMarch 15, 2012
Last week we visited 8 stores in Mt Pleasant. Each store had its own magic. Our first stop was the Black Swan Emporium. The store dog Maeve kept her tail moving the whole time we were there setting the beat for a delightful shopping experience. It was fun speaking with Maureen and Mary Margaret whose art and antique knowledge is wonderful. The antiques are of excellent quality, ranging from burled maple to cherry wood. Desks, chairs, tables, lamps and wonderful art. There a great coffee table designed by Maureen that reminded us that we were so close to the beach.
Next we visited Stephanie at “The Coleman Collection”. She was by herself and busy so we decided to return, but not before, I saw all of their dining room and chair sets. When we came back the store was still busy. You could furnish a whole house with the selection they have. I love coming here as they always have new pieces and are constantly moving things out and around.
From there, we stopped at Southern Accent Designers Showcase where there are at least 70 vendors in their “own shops”. Each one had its own character, with new, old and refurbished. You need at least a full hour to take everything in. Everything looked “Designer approved” with edgy material on ottomans and chairs, gorgeous lamps and specialty items. If you want to “splurge” on one piece this is the place to go!
We saw the Antiques Market filled with Vintage memorabilia and Trading Places Consignment with some “beachy decor” . We went to Next to New and Low Country Consignments that are both filled to the brim with goodies. So many things and so little time!
Chic Antique was next on the list where we chatted with Val the owner and I couldn’t help but look at all of her wonderful inventory. Painted tables and repurposed decor surrounded us. Her vendors are creative and master painters. I saw benches with metal legs, trunks, and so many “must haves” that I had to tear myself away. When you walk into this store it reminds me of SOHO in NYC. Very hip! Must see store!
I always like stopping at AB FAB. Lisa showed me some wonderful pillowcases made of purple and white Ikat material! Fabulous. Lots of mirrors and small vintage items.
What a way to spend a day. I’ll have to go back as I still didn’t get to Paige’s Thieves Market, Six Mile Antique Mall, and Victoria’s. So many stores, so little time.
Remember what Charlestonantiquestores says: Discover. Plan. Go.
Stay tuned for my next blog where I will have a picture of my finished painted chair with new “Ikat” material from Fabric Emporium. Ooh La La!
