Spring Colors

Happy Belated Easter to everyone!

This is one of my favorite times of year.  I love decorating with garden items and try to bring the outside in.  I’ve had a lot of company recently which is always fun to get ready for.  I took my sister-in-law, her daughter and her daughter out and about where they proceeded to buy, buy and buy again.  I swear that it’s the weather here, sun shining, slight breeze and all of those stores I love to go to.   We visited my sister and husband in NC the day before Easter as they were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  The party was held on Lake Norman at my niece & nephews house.  Great to see our family and all of their friends.  Good to see the azaleas still blooming as ours are long gone.  Nothing like a house on the water with the boat dancing on the water, waiting for people to jump in!   A good time was enjoyed by all.

We visited Simple to Sublime, Marigolds, The Finishing Touch/Rae Rocco’s, The Tea Farm, Vintage Swag and The Squirrel’s Nest all right in my town of Summerville, SC.  So much fun to see the stores wearing their colors of Spring.

This Sunday,  April 15th from 2;00 pm – 6:00 pm  www.charlestonantiquestores.com will be hosting their 2nd decorating EVENT which will be held at “The Squirrel’s Nest” in Summerville, SC   The theme is decorating with vintage garden items.  Stone rabbits in gardens with tiny wrought iron fences around them, wagons with pansies, old pots piled high with watering cans all over.  Painters’ ladders, metal and iron garden tables with chairs,  tiny wooden chairs, glass cloches, garden sculptures, old windows and more inside and out.  Special prices for that day only, so I hope that you will come out and visit us!

The colors I am seeing on repurposed furnitures is light grey, teal, yellow and of course that shabbied white look.  On material and wallpaper, I am seeing Ikat and lots of geometric prints, which I used in the early 70′s.  Wallpaper which has been out for a while is popping up on one focal wall, in a foyer, or a bedroom.  Instead of the Laura Ashley small flower prints, we are seeing large zinnias in every hue to appeal to a younger population, but I love it too.  My goal is to put wallpaper on my foyer wall.  Of course, then I would have to recover my love seat that’s there and the list goes on.  Decorating always leads to more decorating, I guess that’s what always keeps me so engaged, but unfortunately, drives my husband a little crazy.

Have a great week accomplishing all your challenges!

Until we meet again,

Tina
